Okinawa Haunted Hotel

Hi,
Since I made a lot of shots at the hotel, I thought it would be easier to upload them to a public album and send the link to you, so here it is: link. Actually, nothing interesting or out-of-the-ordinary happened at the place, but still, the atmosphere was amazing and fascinating. It is easy to locate the hotel, since it is clearly visible from nearby roads and highways, but finding the way to it is much more difficult. The locals in the area - of course - say they don’t even know about such a place or say that there is no way to get up because of dense vegetation. In fact, there are a few different ways to climb up to the hotel, some easier than others, but the vegetation is indeed dense, so durable clothes are advised. The complex has several buildings scattered along a small hill ridge, and the panorama from the tallest of them is breathtaking. Graffiti artists have left their marks abundantly on the walls, and though most of them are just tags or intended-to-be-scary lines (like “In memory of the murdered victims”) some of these paintings are indeed works of art. You can see for yourself among my photos. If you would like to know anything more, feel free to ask, I can’t think of anything to add right now. :)
All the best.

Thank you so much for the submission!  (sorry it took so long to post.)  It’s interesting to get a personal account from a fellow tumblr user.  :D

Hotel Takara

Location:  Okinawa, Japan

Status:  Abandoned Project

Hotel Takara, also known as the Royal Hotel, is located near the ruins of Nakagusuku Castle, and surrounded by lore and superstition.  It project was started in the late 70’s, but was abandoned because of mysterious accidents on the site.  What really happened there is of much speculation, but many locals are afraid to even go near it.

It is said that the hotel was built on sacred ground, and that it’s construction angered the spirits there.  Tombs are dotted around the surrounding jungle, overgrown and mostly forgotten.  There is also a small cave, not too far from the construction site that is said to house the spirits themselves.

As for the hotel itself, legend says that it was constructed without blueprints, and thus, some areas bare resemblance to the famous Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, California.

Stairs go to nowhere, columns jut through the middle of rooms.  Some rooms are without windows.  The layout of the area is very labyrinthian and described as impossible to navigate.   Many rooms are decorated in bright pink.

It is said that the project was originally intended to be a zoo, but eventually expanded to a hotel, and a casino, and an amusement park.

However, that was not to be.

Local lore says that workers began having bizarre accidents on the site.  Monks warned the boss to stop the project, but he refused, instead choosing to live in the unfinished hotel until it was finished, to prove their claims about spirits wrong  Despite this, workers began leaving the area, and it is said that after only days, the boss lost his mind, and was committed to an asylum.  The project was abandoned, and still remains there to this day.
