Heya! Love your posts - very moving. I just felt I had to write about this page on my blog. Have a look if you want: http://kinsta.blogspot.com/2012/02/abandoned-places.html Thanks - keep up the good work!
Oh my gosh! :D That article was so flattering. Thank you.
Moonville
How about “Moonville” near Hocking Hills, Ohio. It was an old railroad town until it was abandonded for good in the 1960s. A leg of the old C&O tracks used to run through it until the mid-1980’s. It is rumored to be haunted by the ghosts of people run over by trains and a creepy railroad guy swinging a signal lamp. A tunnel as you approach the old town is still there (the...

riskyrussian asked: For some reason I was extremely excited to see you were born in March 1991. So was I! 29th for me :D
I have a proposistion.
When I began this blog two years ago, it was in the summer-time, and I was unemployed, and had a lot of free time to research. Currently, I’m in college, and I have a job, and while I still research abandoned places, my attention deviates towards theme parks.
So, what if I added more members to the blog, each specializing in certain areas, like asylums, ghost towns, factories, etc.etc.

oops sorry I just saw you mention something about Ann Arbor as well. I’ve read about Peach Mountain Observatory being in disuse as well as disrepair due to light pollution. It used to be owned my U of M, so I assume it’s nearby? Sounds incredibly cool and spooky!
I’m going to have to do some research on this one, and mayhaps call some friends of mine who attend the college...

Southeastern Michigan
I have a testimonial/help for the person asking about places in southeastern Michigan! In Irish Hills, along US 12 is a series abandoned roadside attractions, my favorite being Prehistoric Forest. It was active during the 60s and it went through a trial rival period in the late 90s before being shut down in about 2000. As of right now the 30(?) acre property is for sale and scattered with...

Okinawa Haunted Hotel
Hi, Since I made a lot of shots at the hotel, I thought it would be easier to upload them to a public album and send the link to you, so here it is: link. Actually, nothing interesting or out-of-the-ordinary happened at the place, but still, the atmosphere was amazing and fascinating. It is easy to locate the hotel, since it is clearly visible from nearby roads and highways, but finding the way...

angsturban asked: Hi, I am Hungarian but I am coming to the end of my two-month stay in Okinawa, Japan during which I have visited the infamous haunted hotel here and took some pictures. If you are interested, I can send them to you. :)
Attention Urban Explorers:
While abandoned places are interesting, many you are expressing interests in visiting them yourselves. While there’s nothing wrong with this (without you this blog wouldn’t be here), there are a few things you need to consider before heading off.
Travel in groups. I can’t stress this one enough. You never know what’s going to be in these places. Many of them are...

Katolis World - Abandoned Theme Park in Taiwan
I thought you might like to see this - I found some information about Katolis World in Taiwan. I saw in your article that you couldn’t find much information on it, so I looked into it.

10 Abandoned Places Perfect for Halloween.
I’ve discovered that, when it comes to abandoned places, many are led to their demise by normal, mundane means, However, there are a few that have a twisted history terrifying enough to scare the pants of of a poor, lone, blogger delving into their secrets and 3:00 A.M. For Halloween, I have compiled a list of the top ten abandoned places that scared the piss out of me in one way or...

Mayhaps I should introduce myself?
Name: Brenda.
Location: The city that thought “Autoworld” was a good idea.
DOB: March 1991.
DOD: Still living.
There’s something fascinating in the history of abandoned places. Uncovering the truth sometimes reveals a corrupt owner, or maybe even a ghosts story or two. Sometimes, it’s just a sad place from my childhood that I pull from the dregs of my...
fierfaerie asked: I found you through Cracked[.]com-you're credited in one of their feature Halloween Articles. So glad I found this though, I love the melancholy creepiness of abandoned places.
Goodness, so many new followers all of a sudden.
What brought this on? :D Halloween?
Thank you all. I’ll have a special treat for you, and thank you to all the people submitting places!

The Good Ole Days
I live in middle Georgia. A high school in our town was being torn down because another one was being built in a different location. My brother, mother and I went to go check it out. We ended up taking a lot of pictures. It was pretty eerie. We were mostly in the locker room and gym. There was only half the building we were in, so when I went up the staircase the upper floors were completely...

Katoli's World
Date of opening: Mid eighties. (unknown exact date of opening)
Date of Closing: September 21, 1999
Location: Taichung, Taiwan
With the recent earthquake in Japan, we were given a wake up call about how natural disasters can destroy homes, businesses, and peoples lives in a matter of minutes, in the blink of an eye. Sometimes even if the disaster strikes and the places are still...

Calling all followers!
I need your help guys. I am creating a website version of this blog for a final project in one of my classes, but I have to have e-mail permission from every photographer whose pictures I use.
If ANY of you have any photos of abandoned places that YOU HAVE TAKEN YOURSELF I would feel greatly indebted to you if you would give me links to them, and your permission to use them on my site.
Thank...

The tower theatre
Date of opening: October 12, 1927
Date of Closing: 1988
Location: Los Angeles, California.
Going to the movies has become not only a regular past-time but also in some occurences, a holiday tradition. With the film & entertainment industry being one of America’s largest economic incomes, it’s hard to remember a time when there wasn’t movie stars, theatres, and...

Takakanonuma Greenland
Location: Hobara, Japan.
Date of Opening: 1973
Date of Closing: 1999
The images of Takakanonuma Greenland are some of the most recognizable, and eerie (One is even used in our icon). However, despite how widely circulated the photographs are, there is little information about the park itself. It originally opened in 1973, but closed a few years later, and didn’t reopen until 1986. ...
chinkerbelle asked: I love this blog! I live in Florida and have visited most of those laces (fort wilderness, splendid china, etc) and it's kind of heartwarming and sad at the same time to see how they've ended up. danaaa:
I’m reading an article on abandoned theme parks and I stopped at “Spreepark, Berlin”. The park is from East Berlin and after the wall fell, the theme park became bancrupt and shut down in 2001, you can still explore this park secretly. And here comes the kick. Some time ago, I actually remembered being on a little train ride in a theme park with my father, seeing exactly these...
